모바일 신분증 발급방법‘It’s so convenient!’ That’s what I thought after using the mobile ID. Mobile ID is an administrative service that allows you to save and use ID cards such as resident registration cards on your smartphone.
With the introduction of mobile ID, my life has become significantly more convenient. This is because you no longer have to carry a plastic ID card in your wallet. You can obtain various civil documents from the Administrative Welfare Center through the Ministry of Public Administration and Security’s mobile driver’s license, and make card payments through simple payment services such as Samsung Pay. All of this is possible with just one smartphone.
One time, I forgot my resident registration card at home and was at a loss as to how to issue a resident registration certificate that I had to submit to my child’s school. At that time, I had the experience of issuing documents using a mobile driver’s license without any problems.
One thing that was disappointing at this time was that only mobile ID cards issued through the government app could be used when visiting government offices. For example, in the case of a mobile driver’s license, you can download and install the ‘Mobile ID’ app from the App Store and then register and use the issued IC driver’s license. In addition, mobile resident registration cards must be used by downloading and installing the ‘Government 24’ app and using the ‘Resident Registration Card Mobile Verification Service’.
These apps were used relatively infrequently, so there were minor inconveniences such as having to update when trying to use them, or having to find out where to find the service because the app itself was unfamiliar. At the time, there was a wish that ‘it would be possible to use mobile ID more conveniently.’
Fortunately, since March 20, it has become possible to issue two types of mobile ID cards (mobile driver’s license and national veterans registration card) through the Samsung Wallet (formerly Samsung Pay) app, making life much more convenient. Samsung Wallet was familiar to me as I often used it for payments, and the process of issuing a mobile ID card was not that difficult.
The method of issuing a mobile ID card from Samsung Wallet is simple. On the first screen, tap Mobile ID, then Mobile Driver’s License, then set a 6-digit mobile ID password. Afterwards, enter the 4-digit password you set when issuing your physical ID, hold your ID on the center of the back of your mobile phone for 5 seconds, and complete biometric authentication.
The mobile driver’s license issued in this way can be used in the same way as a regular driver’s license in accordance with Article 85 of the Road Traffic Act. One thing to note is that there are currently 9 types of terminals that support the Ministry of Public Administration and Security’s mobile ID card (Samsung S24/S24+/S24 Ultra/S23/S23+/S23 Ultra/Fold 5/Flip5/A15 LTE). It is said that supported terminals will be expanded sequentially. As mobile ID becomes easier to use in the future, we expect our lives to become more convenient.
