If so, you can receive a refund for your electricity bill by applying one of the following methods in a convenient manner for the registered resident of the application address. If you have completed the Energy Cashback application, you must be wondering how much cashback you can receive on your electricity bill. Let’s take a look at the cashback calculation method and payment criteria together!
The savings amount and savings rate, which are the basis for calculating cashback, are calculated as follows.
After applying for Energy Cashback, if you save more than 3% compared to the average of the same month in the previous two years, you will receive a refund of 30-100 won per kWh for each savings rate section, with a savings rate of 30% as the limit. (Applied from January 2024) The cashback unit price for each section is as follows. For example, if a customer whose average usage for the previous two years was 332 kWh reduces electricity usage by 4% and achieves a savings of 14 kWh, you can receive a final cashback of 420 won. (14 kHw x 30 won/kHw = 420 won)
The timing of application and cashback payment method after applying for Energy Cashback are as follows.
Cashback is calculated from the ‘month’ that includes the Energy Cashback program application date. Here, ‘month’ refers to the applicant’s electricity bill calculation period, not the 1st to the last day of the calendar year. (Example: For customers whose meter reading date is the 15th, the electricity bill calculation period for October is from September 15th to October 14th, and if you apply during that period, the cashback will be calculated from the electricity usage for October.)
The cashback calculated each month will be reflected and deducted when the next month’s electricity bill is billed. However, please note that if the applicant’s address changes during the cashback calculation period, the cashback payment will be excluded, and in order to re-apply for the cashback, you must re-apply based on the changed address.
1. Why is there a ‘saving rate of 30%’ limit when calculating energy cashback for housing?
– In order to prevent excessive cashback payments in cases where the saving rate is abnormally high due to long-term business trips, travel, etc., the savings rate was set to 30% as the upper limit, considering the level of electricity usage that can be saved at home. (Example) If you achieve a 40% reduction rate and 400kWh reduction, you will receive cashback based on 300kWh, which is a 30% reduction rate.
2. Can I receive cashback in cash?
– Previously, cashback was paid in the form of cash, donation, and electricity bill deduction, but in order to resolve customer inconveniences such as account registration for cash receipt and additional personal information input for donation processing, from the second half of 2023, it will be processed in a unified manner only by deducting when charging electricity bills.
3. I would like to receive more detailed information about cashback. Who should I contact?
– If you call the customer center (123 without the area code), you will be connected to a representative. If you click [Customer Support] – [Search for Representative] on the Cashback homepage, you can check the regional representative and phone number. Business hours are weekdays 09:00 ~ 18:00 (excluding lunch time 12:00 ~ 13:00).
