[Sejong=Newspim] Reporter Lee Tae-seong = Korea Electric Power Corporation announced on the 19th that the number of households applying for energy cashback for housing exceeded 200,000 households on the 17th. As of 12:00 on the 18th, a total of 216,921 households applied.
An official from KEPCO said, “As concerns about the increase in cooling costs due to the forecast of hot and humid weather this summer and the increase in electricity rates last month, interest in energy conservation has increased.” It seems that the increase to one won is leading to high participation.”
Energy Cashback, which has been piloted since last year, accumulated 52,490 households until the first half of this year, but the number of new participants exceeded 200,000 households 11 days after online applications began on June 7 for implementation in the second half of 2023.
According to KEPCO, if you sign up for energy cashback and reduce your electricity consumption by more than 10%, your electricity bill may be lower than last year.
In the summer of last year (July-August), if a household of 4 with an average electricity consumption of 427kWh reduces usage by 10%, a total of KRW 15,080 will be added to the KRW 11,180 reduction in electricity consumption and KRW 3,900 in cashback. is saved
The final rate is 65,450 won, which is about 1,000 won less than the monthly electricity rate of 66,690 won last year.
KEPCO urged customers who have not yet applied to apply with active interest, as customers who applied by August 31 can also receive cashback deductions from their bills retroactively from July. Starting in September, it will be applied from the month in which the application date falls.
In June, you can only apply online, and in July, you can apply by visiting a nearby KEPCO office. The specific reception period will be notified separately.
