Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, began a free transportation policy on November 2nd to allow Hwaseong citizens to use buses for free.
Previously, it only applied to those aged 7 to 18, but from July 21, the target will be expanded to those aged 65 or older, and from October 2021, to those aged 19 to 23.
Now, let’s take a look at the conditions and support details for free transportation in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, which are applied when traveling within Hwaseong-si.
Those eligible for free transportation in Hwaseong City also include youth aged 7 to 18 living in Hwaseong City, and from July 1, seniors aged 65 or older.
Please note that the target is based on resident registration, and in October 21, those aged 19 or older to 23 or younger will also be included.

Support details
City and village bus fares
Transportation does not include seat, metropolitan, intercity, or airport buses; only regular city and village buses must be used.
People with disabilities who have difficulty using public transportation can receive transportation service fee assistance provided by the city.
However, please note that free transportation and mobile service fee support do not overlap when applying.
Since the free transportation policy is intended to revitalize public transportation, guarantee the right to travel within the district, and create a virtuous cycle of the local economy, transportation expenses are supported only when traveling within Hwaseong City.
Please note that you are not eligible for support if you are moving from Hwaseong City to another city or from another city to Hwaseong City.
Additionally, Gyeonggi-do youth transportation support and free transportation do not overlap, so it is best to use the one that suits you.
Those over 65 years old can apply for free transportation in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do through the Internet homepage and mobile app starting May 8, 2011.
In addition, in-person applications are possible from June 14, 21, at the administrative welfare center in your town, township, or neighborhood. To apply, both online and offline, you must first obtain a ‘G-PASS card’ from Nonghyup Bank.
Please note that the card is recharged and applied to the amount used after July 1st, and transportation expenses are paid on the 25th of each month.
Please keep in mind that if you lend the issued card to someone else or use it unfairly, payment will be suspended and action will be taken for refund.
There is support that does not overlap with free transportation, such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s industrial complex youth transportation expenses for small and medium-sized enterprises, Gyeonggi-do youth transportation expenses, Gyeonggi-do Office of Education transportation expenses for special education students, and out-of-school youth transportation expenses.
