장애인 연금Starting from January of this year, the basic disability pension amount will be increased by 11,630 won and the additional benefit amount will be increased by 10,000 won, a total increase of 21,630 won compared to last year.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it will pay a maximum of 424,810 won per month to disabled pension recipients, including the basic benefit of 334,810 won and the additional benefit of 90,000 won, and will also increase the disability pension selection criteria by 80,000 won.
Meanwhile, the disability pension is intended to support the stability of the lives of severely disabled people who have difficulty living due to their disabilities, promote welfare, and promote social integration, and is paid to those in the bottom 70% of income bracket among registered severely disabled people aged 18 or older.
The disabled pension is a system that has been implemented since July 2010 and consists of basic benefits and additional benefits in accordance with Article 5 of the Disabled Persons Pension Act.
First, basic benefits are paid to compensate for reduced income due to loss of work ability, etc., and the amount of benefits is determined by reflecting the consumer price inflation rate of the previous year according to the same law.
Accordingly, this year’s basic benefit amount will be increased by 11,630 won, reflecting last year’s consumer price increase rate of 3.6%, to a maximum of 334,810 won per month.
Additional benefits are paid along with the basic benefit to compensate for additional costs due to disability. In particular, the amount has been increased by 10,000 won for the first time in 11 years since 2013, to a maximum of 90,000 won per month.
Disability pension is paid regularly on the 20th of every month to disabled pension recipients in accordance with Article 13 of the Disability Pension Act and Article 11 of the Enforcement Decree of the Disabled Pension Act.
However, since the 20th is a Saturday, according to the law, the disabled pension for January will be paid reflecting the basic benefit and additional benefit increased on January 19, the day before.
Meanwhile, the bottom 70% of severely disabled people are eligible to receive disability pension, and the selection criteria for the bottom 70% of income is announced every year taking into account the income and assets of severely disabled people, inflation rate, etc.
This year’s disability pension selection standard is 1.3 million won for single households and 2.08 million won for couple households, so if a disabled person’s recognized income falls below the selection standard, they can receive a disability pension.
Jeong Yun-soon, Director of Social Welfare Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said, “It is expected that 360,000 more people will benefit from the disabled pension this year through an increase in the selection criteria for the disabled pension.” He added, “Through continued expansion of disabled pension support, income is guaranteed for low-income severely disabled people and the vulnerable. “We will work to strengthen welfare,” he said.
Meanwhile, severely disabled people who wish to receive a disability pension can apply by visiting administrative welfare centers in towns, villages, or districts across the country, regardless of their address on resident registration, or apply online at the Bokjiro website (www.bokjiro.go.kr).
In addition, for inquiries about pension for the disabled, more detailed information can be obtained through the town/myeon/dong administrative welfare center or the health and welfare call center (129 without area code).
