Writing to read when only one side of the earphone can be heard
I am not an audio equipment expert, but I often receive inquiries about wired or Bluetooth earphone problems because I often review earphones. I have posted a few articles on the frequently asked questions regarding Bluetooth-related problems. There is one frequently asked question common to both wired earphones and Bluetooth. It’s “Why can’t I hear only one side of the earphone? What should I do?” Of course, there are various causes of these symptoms, but after consulting for the past few years, it has been sorted out for about 6 reasons. So today, I wrote a note to refer to when only one side of the earphone can be heard.
1. Kink in bluetooth pairing
First of all, it’s time to hear only one side of the fully wireless earphones that are used most frequently these days. Bluetooth earphones coming out these days support mono mode, so only one side can be used. It’s a convenient feature, but the pairing is also twisted during use. Of course, it occurs with high frequency in low-end products, but it can also occur in high-end products. The main symptom is that the same model name is repeatedly registered in the Bluetooth device list as shown in the picture, and L and R marks are created, respectively. Of course, even if this happens, it doesn’t matter if you can hear both sides instead of only one side, but if it’s not the case and only one side of the Bluetooth earphone is connected, you can assume that pairing twist has occurred.
In this case, first delete all earphones from the pairing list of the device (mobile device or PC) in use.
So, you have to reset the earphones in question. For how to reset the earphones, you need to ask the user manual or the manufacturer. Of course, in the case of cheap earphones, there are many cases where manufacturers do not actually manufacture them, so they do not know how to initialize them. At this time, try the initialization method that is commonly applied (see the picture above). Generally, cheap earphones will be applied because they import and use the same chipset from China.
If the initialization of the Bluetooth earphones is completed as described above, pair them again. And it is recommended to refrain from using mono mode for products that have had problems with only one side of the Bluetooth earphone working like this. There is a very high probability that the same problem will occur again. Cheap products are not cheap for nothing. If you don’t like these problems, you should invest some money and buy something good.
2. Poor contact of case charging terminal
and bad battery
If the pairing is not twisted, there is a high probability that the earphone battery is bad or the charging is bad. This is also a common problem with low-end products. If the charging terminal part of the earphone and case is curved rather than flat, charging problems due to poor contact occur frequently. Once you put the earphones in the case, if only one light comes on and the Bluetooth connection continues to not be disconnected, it is a problem with the charging terminal ground. If it charges well but does not turn on, the battery is bad. Low-end products have a lot of battery issues. Life span is also short. They usually die within a year. At this time, it is better to ask for A/S or give up and just throw it away.
3. Bad chipset
It’s not that you can’t hear the earphones at all, but if only one side of the Bluetooth earphone keeps disconnecting, it’s a bad chipset. Symptoms usually appear within a day or two after purchase and use. No matter what I do, it doesn’t improve. In this case, it is recommended to request a refund or exchange quickly. Abnormal disconnection is a product defect. Of course, if there is a pattern such as disconnection at a specific place or when using a specific program, it is not a defect. It’s just that the original signal of the product is a bit weak. At this time, you should just regret buying this product and use it. Never buy that brand again.
4. Wired earphone disconnection
or bad connector contact
These days, when you hear only one side of wired earphones with fewer users, it is likely to be due to disconnection. People who use bullet-type earphones that look like photos usually don’t manage cables well. It just pulls it out or wraps it roughly and puts it in a bag and it gets caught when you take it out. The earphone cable is weaker than expected. Can you hear it when you touch the cable on the inaudible side? So it’s 100% disconnected. These people will use cheap earphones anyway. It’s better to just buy a new one instead of A/S. Sometimes they ask me how to fix it, but it’s better to just buy a new one.
Detachable cable products that use MMCX or 2-pin connectors also cause poor contact as the connector becomes loose if the earphone unit is unplugged and plugged in again and again. If only one side of the earphone is heard, the toxic noise is severe and cuts off, you can see that the connector contact is bad. When I pushed the connector tightly with my hand, both sides came out well? Then it is 100%. In this case, you can replace the cable.
5. Poor plug contact
This is a question that people who play computer games with earphones often ask. In the PC, plug contact failure can be seen as a basic thing to install.
In particular, the front terminal, as I always say, is a part made in a PC case, so an extremely cheap product is included. They are often already broken when shipped. When plugging in the earphones, insert them slowly and gently. At this time, all the plugs are not inserted, but I can hear sound from both sides. However, if you plug everything in correctly, if you can hear only one side of the earphone, it is 100% the plug or terminal specification is defective. If you put a plug in a tank and turn it around, is there a point where both sides come out well? That’s 100% terminal failure. First of all, let’s not trust the front terminals of the PC case.
Of course, sometimes it’s a plug problem, not a terminal. When only one side of the earphone can be heard on a PC as well as a smartphone, it may be due to oxidation of the plug or a foreign substance, so it is recommended to use it after wiping it clean with a wet tissue.
6. Bad earphone terminal contact
If the earphone works well with other devices, but only one side is heard in a specific device, there may be a foreign substance in the earphone jack of the device or the inside of the jack is corroded.
At this time, you have to blow strong wind inside to remove foreign substances or wipe the contact part inside the terminal, which is not easy for ordinary people. At this time, it is more comfortable to just use Bluetooth earphones without trying to force things in. I hope you don’t accidentally touch the plug and get stuck in the terminal. I get inquiries about this problem at the rate of one person a month, and I can’t solve it. how the hell did you break it
Here is a summary of things to check when you can hear only one earphone. Except for one or two problems, most of them are beyond our control. If there is a problem, it is best to check the above 6 items and get A/S, refund or exchange quickly. It’s because I wrote it so that you don’t make it a big problem by touching it more. please don’t make trouble
If you have any questions, please leave a comment. Please treat your earphones with care.
