The city is operating a system that authenticates Yongin citizens using a QR code in conjunction with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety system.
Citizens who have been authenticated as citizens can authenticate themselves as citizens by accessing the QR code using their mobile phones without an ID card or resident registration card. There is no need to present an ID card to receive discounts given to Yongin citizens when using tourist destinations in the region or tourist destinations and facilities in sister cities.
The QR code citizen authentication event will be held from September 28 to December 31. Yongin citizens can receive 1,000 won in city points by authenticating themselves with a QR code at 40 tourist attractions and facilities in 8 cities including Sokcho-si, Jindo-gun, Yeongcheon-si, Wando-gun, Sacheon-si, Goseong-gun, Gwangyang-si, and Danyang-gun, which have established sisterhood ties with 6 tourist attractions including Yongin Natural Recreation Forest, Rural Theme Park, Hantaek Botanical Garden, Korean Folk Village, Daejanggeum Theme Park, and Insect Theme Park.
To participate in the event, you must sign up for the Yongin City Point app, receive citizen authentication once, and then receive a citizen ID. You can choose the certificate you want to display, such as youth, families with many children, people with disabilities, or families with distinguished military service.
A city official said, “If you are planning a trip in the fall, it is recommended to visit famous local tourist attractions or sister cities that offer discounts and events,” and added, “We will utilize QR code citizen authentication for various citizen services.”
