쿠팡플레이 영화 추천– Genre: Action, Crime, Thriller
– Running time: 131 minutes – Director: Anton Fuqua – OTT: Coupang Play, TVING

– McCall (Denzel Washington): Main character. Originally a secret agent at the Defense Intelligence Agency.
– Alina/Terry (Chloe Grace Moretz) The heroine of this movie. Teri is a pseudonym she only uses when she is a prostitute, her real name is Alina.
– Ralphie (Johnny Scurtis): A Latino employee at Home Mart where McCall works.
– Slavi (David Meunier): The owner of the brothel where Alina worked and a member of the Red Mafia.
– Nikolai Itchenko (Marton Ksokas): The final boss of this movie. A Russian Red Mafia killer, judging by the star tattoos on both chests.
– Vladimir Pushkin (Vladimir Kulich): Leader of the Red Mafia.
– Frank Masters (David Harbour): A corrupt Boston cop who receives bribes from the Russian mafia.

Denzel Washington (McCall) works at Home Mart and lives a normal life, but because he can’t sleep every night due to insomnia, he keeps his own routine and spends late nights reading books at a 24-hour restaurant.
Then, he builds a friendship with Alina, a call girl he happened to meet at a 24-hour restaurant, through a brief conversation.

Alina came to the United States with a dream at a young age, but faced with the harsh reality, she lost her dream and was living a difficult life working as an unwanted call girl.
McCall and Alina meet at a restaurant late at night and talk, feeling warm towards each other, becoming closer and becoming friends.
Then one day, she sees Alina being taken away by her pimp, a Russian mafia, and she is not seen again after that, and then she hears that Alina is in the emergency room because she is seriously injured.
She sees Alina in her badly injured state and she is told by Alina’s colleague that the Russian mafia has brutally assaulted Alina.
McCall wonders whether he should step forward, but goes to the Russian mafia and offers her money to free Alina. However, the Russian mafia Slavi laughs and refuses, and McCall quickly disposes of the mafia members, including Slavi.

When Slavi dies, Pushkin, Slavi’s boss in Russia, sends a troubleshooter, Itchenko, to investigate and find out everything about Slavi’s death.
As a killer, Ichenko calmly investigates the person who caused Slavi’s death, and as he learns of her existence against McCall, a bloody fight breaks out between McCall and Ichenko to kill each other.

In the beginning, there was a build-up that calmly showed McCall’s daily life, and although these scenes could be boring, they were strangely immersive and didn’t feel boring.
The character of a former special agent who hides his powers can be boring, and the story with an obvious ending can make it uninteresting, but unlike other films, this film is based on Denzel Washington’s acting ability and, unlike other films, deals with the villains quickly rather than dragging on, and the main character is dealt with quickly. I think it expresses the strength well.
While watching the movie, I felt similar to John Wick. While John Wick was an action-oriented movie, The Equalizer felt like it emphasized immersion in the main character along with restrained action scenes.
I’m looking forward to the second part of the movie, so I’ll have to watch it as soon as possible.
