These days, when everything including electricity bills, gas costs, and living prices are rising, all Seoul residents are welcoming the news of the launch of the Climate Companion Card, which allows unlimited use of public transportation for 65,000 won per month. The expected launch date for the Climate Companion Card is January 2024. It is scheduled to be piloted from January to May 2024, and charging is possible until the end of May 2024.
Differences between Climate Companion Card and K Pass
However, recently, the government has been pointing out that the public transportation policy called K-Pass may be overlapping. What is the difference between Climate Companion Card and K Pass?
The biggest difference between K Pass and Climate Companion Card is the difference in benefit method. With the Climate Companion Card, you can use public transportation unlimited times that month by paying 65,000 won per month, but with the K Pass, like an economical transportation card, you can receive a refund of 20% of the amount used. Gyeonggi-do and Incheon, regions near Seoul, are not favorable to the Climate Companion Card. Because it can only be used within Seoul, people who live in nearby areas and commute to work cannot receive the benefits.
