Gyeonggi-do is recruiting applicants for the ‘Gyeonggi-do Youth Life Scholarship’ from the 13th to the 24th, which provides annual scholarships of 700,000 to 1 million won to middle and high school students and out-of-school youth in economically difficult situations.
The Gyeonggi-do Youth Living Scholarship is funded by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance’s lottery fund, and targets 10,850 youths in Gyeonggi-do who have difficulty making a living, such as recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, the legally next-highest class, and those with incomes below 100% of the median income. Middle school students (out-of-school youth born between 2008 and 2010) receive 700,000 won per year, and high school students (out-of-school youth born between 2005 and 2007) receive 1 million won per year divided between April and September.
Starting this year, applications for Gyeonggi-do Youth Living Scholarship will be processed online using ‘Gyeonggi Civil Service 24’. If online application is difficult, applications can be made by visiting the Administrative Welfare Center at your address.
Those eligible for support can register as a member on the ‘Gyeonggi Civil Service 24’ website (gg24.gg.go.kr) via the internet or smartphone, fill out the application form, and submit the relevant documents.
For more information about living scholarships, please contact the city/county youth department, the administrative welfare center of the town/myeon/dong, or the Gyeonggi-do call center (120), or refer to the notice on the Gyeonggi-do or city/county website.
Moon-kyo Lee, head of the Gyeonggi-do Youth Department, said, “Gyeonggi-do has been expanding living scholarships every year since 2004, and starting this year, online applications are available, so those eligible can apply for living scholarships more conveniently.” “We will continue to work hard to prevent this from happening,” he said.
